Alright, the first month of 2009 was _____. Hmmm, how do I finish that? Well, let me try to explain. New Year's was completely uneventful. I worked a 13 hour shift at Shrek on New Year's eve which left me completely wiped out when I got home. While the roommates went to the bar in our complex to celebrate, I stayed home, took a nice hot shower and watched the ball drop on TV just before passing out for the next 12 hours. At least I kept with my tradition of staying home and watching the ball drop. Don't you just love tradition!
Anyhoo, in an attempt to be more social I've hosted and attended a few get-togethers and outings. It all started out with the BCS Championship game at the beginning of the month and ended with training and dinner with co-workers at the end of the month. In between both Lauren (my roommate) and I celebrated our birthdays. For my '21st B-day (5 years late)' I went out with friends for dinner, drinks and karaoke at Universal's City Walk before driving down to Stuart for my 3-day weekend. As far as birthdays go, I'd say this one was definitely in my top 5. For Lauren's birthday we had people over to the apartment. It was a lot of fun and I finally learned how to play beer pong. I owe all my beer milestones to Lauren.
Birthdays weren't the only social activities I participated in this past month. I went to Beer School for the first and last time with my lead and supervisor. It was fun, but a little weird doing a beer tasting with my supervisor. Ed's (my supervisor) a cool guy, but he's still my supervisor. It was a fun experience that I wish Sea World wasn't getting rid of. Beer school's last day was January 31st. It's so sad. Moving on, I finished off the month with a work training meeting followed by dinner at Ale House. That was an interesting dinner. I learned a lot and laughed even more. So, looks like I've got a good start on my 'social' goal.
Nothing new is happening on the work front. It's actually been pretty stagnant and incredibly frustrating. I haven't been able to make any headway with the job search thing either. What this all means is that I'm still making pennies, while spending quarters. Well, maybe I'll have better luck next month.
It looks like that's all for now. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a trend of monthly updates. As always, hope everything is going well with everyone and remember to keep in touch.
